First of all a huge thank you to everyone for supporting the Christmas Fair – your donations, spending at the fair and support for the FSA made it our best ever. The money raised will help to provide much needed additional equipment for the school such as reading books and ICT equipment. We are also hoping to purchase a licence for a new French curriculum which will benefit our key stage two children.
Secondly a big thank you for your generosity in giving to the reverse Advent calendar. We have plenty of goods to donate to make people’s Christmas a little bit merrier. We are truly blessed to have such generous parents! Mrs Beaven and the RE Council are meeting this week to discuss ways of meeting local need more effectively. The parish already runs a homeless breakfast once a week and we regularly donate to Glenlogie but the RE Council are keen to hear any new ideas you may have.
It feels like Christmas is nearly upon us as we have enjoyed the fantastic nativity play, ‘It’s a baby’ by key stage 1 this week. The children were wonderful and told the story in a simple but effective way with delightful singing and acting. I was also privileged to join Year 5 and 6 at Arundel Cathedral last week for the Deanery Advent Service. This is a very special event and St Mary’s signing of the ‘Our Father’ was a wonderful addition.
Next week school ends at 3.00 pm on Wednesday. Before then we have a visit to the theatre to watch a pantomime, the children’s Christmas lunch, carols around the tree and the end of term Mass. You are very welcome to join us for Mass as we celebrate the last week before Christmas!
